A Symphony of Sound: The Journey of Iulian Girbea
Born on November 7, 1987, in the enchanting town of Comănești,
Bacău, Romania, my love affair with music started back in high
school. A DJ classmate, with his mesmerizing command over the CDJs,
ignited a passion within me that I couldn’t ignore. However,
starting from scratch meant I couldn’t afford the equipment to learn
mixing, and my dream was temporarily shelved.
In 2009, I made the bold move to the UK. After two years of hard
work, I decided to change my life and got married at 23. Was it a
good choice? Absolutely. In the summer of 2011, my wife gifted me a
MacBook Pro, a treasure at the time. This inspired me to buy Native
Instruments Traktor Pro and start blending sounds. For my birthday,
my wife surprised me with a Pioneer DDJ Ergo console, and I began to
explore the world of buttons and knobs.
Connecting with friends and various DJs in the UK, I quickly found
myself in clubs, learning the CDJs. My dream was coming true! At
work, someone heard about my DJing passion and needed a DJ for a
christening party. I thought, why not? The party was a hit, and the
restaurant owner liked my style, connecting me with party
organizers. From 2012 onwards, I performed at hundreds of parties
across the UK, developing my skills and investing in professional
equipment to deliver top-notch sound quality.
Sharing ideas with fellow DJs was invaluable. I learned to read the
dance floor, build energy, and enrich my music library with great
tracks. But I wanted more. My interest in building powerful
computers led me to explore what music producers use to create
music. A few years ago, I started learning Logic Pro and Ableton,
which I now use. These complex software programs always have more to
teach.
I constantly learn from top music producers worldwide through
tutorials, manuals, and creative ideas. In 2023, one of my dreams
came true when I was offered a slot on Space FM Romania for an hour
long DJ set. Since then, I’ve hosted the 2-hour “Space Music Mix”
radio show. I also launched a YouTube channel, posting weekly DJ
sets.
My ultimate dream? To become a music producer with my own studio.
